Project update – December 2023
It’s been a while between updates, but the Neoen team has been hard at work this year finalising lots of technical documents that are required for our state government planning approval process.
We’ve been working with the Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owner Aboriginal Corporation (GMTOAC) on assessing cultural values in the area, which has led to some innovative spatial modelling looking at areas where cultural heritage is more likely to occur. This has involved several on site meetings, a cultural day at Nobles Rocks and online interviews to gain a greater understanding of the culturally significant areas of the project.
We’ve also been doing more detailed design work on the transmission line that could link the project to the electricity grid.
And taking into account further studies of local species means that the wind farm layout has been further modified, with the number of turbines reducing to approximately 105, having started with over 120.
We are progressing with the finalisation of documents, with a goal to reach the public exhibition phase in early 2024. There will be a Community Advisory Council Meeting and a series of community open days to share the various specialist reports and answer questions.
